Director of Nursing, Cork, Ireland

I am recruiting a Director of Nursing/Director of Care/Clinical Nurse Manager for a private nursing home in the Cork region.

The appointee will be responsible for the management and delivery of an efficient, effective, caring and patient focused service throughout the facility, where care management is the top priority.

The individual must have good communication and interpersonal skills, have an ability to manage within approved budgetary and employment resources and be able to offer strategic and operational leadership which inspires, motivates and empowers all staff within the organisation.

Interested candidates should be fully registered with An Bord Altranais with a minimum of 6 years post registration experience, with at least 3 years out of the last 6 years in Elderly Care.

The successful candidate should be also able to demonstrate initiative and decision making skills, and a management and/or Higher Diploma in Gerontology is desirable but not essential.

Familiarity with the Health (Nursing Homes) Act 1990, related legislation and Draft National Quality Standards for residential carer settings for older people (HIQA, 2007) is essential.
